CISM/CISD TRAINING
Critical Incident Stress Management and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Certification

CISM PDF download

CISM is a comprehensive, integrative, multicomponent crisis intervention system. CISM is considered comprehensive because it consists of multiple crisis intervention components, which functionally span the entire temporal spectrum of a crisis. CISM interventions range from the pre-crisis phase through the acute crisis phase, and into the post-crisis phase. CISM is also considered comprehensive in that it consists of interventions which may be applied to individuals, small functional groups, large groups, families, organizations and even communities (www.icisf.org/aboutcism.htm).

Critical Incident Stress Management and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISM/CISD) certification is now mandatory for all individuals desiring to serve those impacted by terrorists acts, natural disasters, plane crashes, and any other major crisis event. Crisis Management and crisis debriefing are powerful tools used to help victims deal with the crisis and to get back to as normal a life as possible as quickly as possible.

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
PDF Download [111k]

CPE is not a course in personal evangelism, but a process in which students begin to explore the psychological implications of ministry and specifically their motivation for ministry. During the training, students will be challenged by their supervisor and/or members of their peer group. Out of an intense involvement with persons in need, and the feedback from peers and teachers, students develop new awareness of themselves as persons and of the needs of those to whom they minister. From theological reflection on specific human situations, they gain a new understanding of ministry. Within the interdisciplinary team process of helping persons, they develop skills in interpersonal and interprofessional relationships (www.acpe.edu/brochure.htm).
