Specialized Chaplaincy is as limitless as your passion for sharing Christ’s love. We have a snowboarding chaplain serving in the mountain slopes. Rodeo chaplains work side-by-side those traveling and unable to have a church home outside their rodeo community. We have industrial and corporate chaplains sharing the message of salvation in the location people spend a majority of their day. Below are some examples of current Specialized chaplains, but we will help you be the chaplain you want to be serving the community where you feel called.

» Industrial/Workplace

The workplace is a main part of people’s lives, and corporations are continuing to prioritize the role of chaplains. Chaplains serve shoulder to shoulder the people they serve and fulfill different roles in each corporation. Some corporations allow chaplains to conduct services for employees who must work on Sundays. Other corporations are enlisting the help of chaplains to ease workplace stress and build camaraderie.

Routine duties: lead Bible studies, one-on-one prayer meetings, counsel employees through work and personal issues, connect employees with local churches.

» Specialized

A Chaplaincy ministry is an invitation to pastor any group of people. Your fellow chaplains currently serve at airports, racetracks, ski mountaintops, rescue missions, rodeos, motorcycle rallies, schools and truck stops. You can be the first chaplain to reach another people group. Sitting side-by-side those you serve provides the relationship to see people as Christ sees them and speak His truth into their lives.

Routine duties: lead Bible studies, counsel people through work and personal issues, conduct church services, lead prayer groups

Where do I get started?

When you pursue a career as a chaplain you’re not just joining an organization, you’re joining a team of people. We’re here to help you. At any point along the way, call the Chaplaincy team at 417.862.2781 to talk about your specific situation and any questions you have.

Step 1. Read over these general guidelines often required:

• Credentialed by the Assemblies of God. (If missionary appointment is needed, license or ordination is required ).
• Two years of ministry with experience in conducting: baptisms, communion services, weddings, funerals,
  and death notifications.
• Willingness to provide spiritual support for individuals of all faiths.
• Most specialized chaplains have to raise their own support and must obtain National U.S. Missionary appointment. See website for U.S. Missions requirements (www.usmissions.ag.org). For U.S. Missions appointment, the interviewing body will be the U.S. Missions Board instead of the Commission on Chaplains.
